Teacher Trainee Requirements
It is highly recommended that the teacher trainee has charted and used the Billings Ovulation Method® for 6 months prior to Teacher Training. (Exceptions may be made in special situations.) . It is highly recommended that experienced users of other NFP methodologies have charted using the Billings Ovulation Method® for a minimum of 3 months.

Teacher Training Sessions
The Trainee is REQUIRED to read the following two papers BEFORE the Teacher Training begins:

These two papers will be the basis of the discussion on the first evening of Teacher Training. They will also be handouts that evening for the Trainees.

At the close of the Teacher Training, a test is given on the basic content covered. The Trainee must score 90% or better on this test. Its successful completion allows the Trainee to begin teaching the Billings Ovulation Method® in the Practicum under the supervision of an experienced Billings Ovulation Method® Teacher appointed by BOMA-USA. If unsuccessful, a make-up test will be administered. The Supervised Practicum should begin as soon as possible after the Training.

NEXT STEP: Supervised Practicum
The Practicum consists of a maximum of two years in which the Trainee instructs and provides follow-up to a minimum of 3 clients/couples, preferably with a variety of reproductive situations under the guidance of a BOMA-USA assigned Supervisor. Trainees, under the guidance of their supervisor, must agree to teach the authentic Billings Ovulation Method® as approved by WOOMB. An additional fee is required for those completing practicum for certification.

Throughout the Practicum, the Trainee communicates regularly with the Supervisor about each client/couple. The Trainee discusses and submits documentation on each client/couple within 24-48 hours after each teaching session and follow-up contact.

The Practicum culminates in an evaluation by the Trainee’s Supervisor. The Supervisor evaluates the Practicum based on Supervisor/Trainee interactions and all the documentation submitted by the Trainee. Upon recommendation by the Supervisor, the Trainee will be approved to take the Final Evaluation.

Final Evaluation
Upon successful completion of the final evaluation, the Trainee will be awarded a Billings Ovulation Method® Association – USA Certificate and an official BOMA-USA badge as a Certified Billings Ovulation Method® Teacher. Certification is valid for 3 years. Membership in BOMA-USA is required for Certification and Renewal of Certification.
